SAW returns to China

29/04/2014   Jenni

Following the launch of SAW China in December 2012, we returned to Shanghai in April this year to see how schools were using the initiative.

We visited SAW’s collaborative base at Wunan Kindergarten where a SAW project was in full swing! We were then treated to SAW presentations by teachers from several schools in the Xuhui district.

SAW Projects are proving to be extremely popular in Shanghai and the majority of projects involve parent volunteers working with teachers from the initial planning stages to delivering projects in class. This is a fantastic way of giving parents a positive role to play in their children's education and also strengthens the teacher-parent relationship.

During our stay we also ran a workshop for teachers and delivered a SAW project on the theme of DNA to a large class of 10 year olds!
